Subculture Links

altculture.com - encyclopedia of '90s youth culture that spans grunge and gangsta, indie rock and indie film, cyberpunk, etc.
Subcultural-Styles - "The aim of this list is to encourage interdisciplinary discussion (within sociology, cultural studies, discourse analysis, geography etc.) on the theory and empirical investigation of 'deviant' or 'spectacular' subcultural styles (skins, punks, goths etc.) and related phenomena (clubcultures, countercultures and sportingsubcultures)." Isn't academic-speak amusing? You'd think they never read George Orwell's Politics and the English Language, particularly the section "Pretentious diction". Perhaps someone will create a webpage about the subculture of academia. };) For a site highlighting academic-speak see: Winners of the Fourth Bad Writing Contest (1998)
The Women of 1970's Punk - from Rockin' Rina Gribovsky. Includes list of bands, discography and history of punk in general plus bibliography of books, movies and videos.

Punk/New Wave - from All Music Guide website.
An Early History of Goth - by Pete Scathe.

Check archives for "Interviews with the Vampires", an article about goth from Philadelphia Weekly April 1-8, 1998. This used to be online, but they are in process of redoing their site.
The Mod-Sixties Webring - to see a list of sites click on "list sites". Previous and Next hyperlinks only work if you have a site ID.
