 Free Web-based Email Services - directory of email providers, voicemail/pager/fax providers, email forwarding services. Includes user comments about the services. Free stuff guide included.
Spymac - offers 100 megabytes of free web space (complete with FTP and WebDAV access), free e-mail account with 25 megabytes of storage (includes both POP3 and Web access), 250 megabytes of free storage in Spymac's patent-pending Gallery.
ZipLip - Onebox used to be my favorite free email service, but since they became a subscription service and were bought by another company I stopped using them. I started using ZipLip however I can no longer recommend Ziplip because of the frequent downtime for "maintenance" and multiple strange problems I've experienced using their service plus they lowered the amount of storage space they offer. The only things ZipLip has going for it is that there is no advertising and they have an encryption option.
VoizMail, a free web-based service from MediaRing that lets you send a 5 minute voice email to any email address. You must have an email account already to use this service since you are not given one by VoizMail.
Hushmail - free encrypted email service uses 1024-bit encryption and runs on Java.
LokMail.net - uses PGP to encrypt and digitally sign messages, to assure that only the intended recipient can read it. Service does not require cookies.

Onebox.com - integrated email, voicemail and fax service. Depending on the plan choice, you can also check your email through the telephone and even send voice-email replies. When it was free the voicemail option was unreliable, but I don't know what it's like now.

Some companies are unreliable and don't always have in stock what the site indicates they have and I speak from experience; I tried to order a monitor from a company (pcWonders.com) whose salesperson wasn't aware they had no stock left for that item. Though I spoke to several people at pcWonders.com noone was aware that the item had been discontinued for a year.
